Black Panther #1 (2016) – Brian Stelfreeze Jay-Z “Black Album” Hip-Hop Variant

Black Panther #1, published by Marvel Comics in 2016, featuring Brian Stelfreeze’s Hip-Hop Variant cover paying homage to Jay-Z’s iconic The Black Album.

This is what I like to call the “Jay-Z issue.”

As part of Marvel’s celebrated Hip-Hop Variant series, Stelfreeze reimagines the visual style of The Black Album with T’Challa taking center stage. The minimalist black-on-black design and “T’Challa / Black Panther” presentation make this one of the more recognizable crossover covers connecting comic-book culture and hip-hop history. The homage is specifically documented as a tribute to Jay-Z’s The Black Album.

Written by Ta-Nehisi Coates with artwork by Brian Stelfreeze, Black Panther #1 also launched the acclaimed 2016 “A Nation Under Our Feet” era of T’Challa and Wakanda.

A great addition for collectors of Black Panther, Marvel Hip-Hop Variants, Brian Stelfreeze, Ta-Nehisi Coates, Jay-Z memorabilia, or the intersection of comics, music, and culture.

The comic is in raw, ungraded condition and appears to be very well maintained overall. Minor handling, surface, or edge wear may be present.

Please review all photos carefully, as they are part of the description and show the actual comic you will receive.
